American, b.1964
BiographyThis biography from the Archives of AskART:

The following biography has been provided by Robert C. Jackson, the artist.

I am a contemporary realist still life painter that enjoys incorporating whimsical and narrative elements into my artwork. Primarily I have been self taught having been schooled in Electrical Engineering and working in the ministry before settling on a full-time vocation as a painter.

In my paintings, I have been exploring light and many of the aspects in which the word "light" conjures in one's mind. Not only do I enjoy working with the physical presence of light in my still life compositions, I am intrigued by the idea of whether fun and somewhat humorous work can stir the soul rather than allowing dark somber works to hold that exclusive copyright. Of course, light may also be revealed in the spiritual and I desire for my artwork to give the viewer a departure point for meditation, a modern icon.

My own work has been influenced most by Scott Fraser and Daniel Sprick who have become my mentors and friends in addition other contemporary realist artists such as Antonio Lopez Garcia, Isabel Quintanilla, and Richard Maury.
