T. Heath Robinson

Robinson, Thomas Heath (1869-1950), British illustrator, second of the Robinson brothers to achieve prominence in illustration. With his two brothers, Charles and William Heath, Robinson illustrated Fairy Tales from Hans Christian Andersen (1899). The brothers were dubbed the three musketeers.

Educated at Cook's Art School and the Westminster Art School, T. H. Robinson went on to illustrate Fairy Tales from The Arabian Nights in 1899. His talent resided more with realistic art than with the fantasy ability of his two brothers, so his work was better applied to such books as The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and works by Laurence Sterne, Mrs. Gaskell, and William Makepeace Thackeray. He contributed to boys' adventure stories in numerous magazines as well as to books with religious subjects, such as George R. Lees, The Life of Christ (1920).
