Marguerite KirmseAmerican, 1885 - 1954

Marguerite Kirmse was born in England. She studied art at the School of Animal Painting in London. She came to the U.S.A. in 1910. She worked in oils, pastels, watercolor, and dry point etching. She was originally commissioned to paint animals in the U. S. and even did a number of works in bronze. She did over 100 illustrations for Greyfriars Bobby, published by Harper and Brothers in 1929.
