Arthur Byron Phillips

Arthur Byron Phillips was born in Scranton on Dec. 1, 1927, the son of Willard A. and Ida Ginsberg Phillips. His sister, Harrie Phillips Mittelman, died before him.

Mr. Phillips graduated from Central High School in Scranton and attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. He lived in Scranton, New York City, and East Hampton.

He lived on Tyrone Drive in Springs for many years and died Thursday, November 13, 2008, at Stony Brook University Hospital of complications following a heart attack on Nov. 3.
