Ranch at Charco Largo

A pen and ink study like this one was the beginning of many of Peter Hurd’s lithographs. In several of his prints he sought ways to replicate the flow of the ink and wash that is seen in this drawing. This sketch appears to be one made in preparation for a painting completed in 1939 and exhibited that year at the Golden Gate International Exhibition in San Francisco
