Andrew Wyeth is well-known for his numerous drawings and paintings of the Kuerner Farm in Chadds Ford, but he was also drawn to other sites, including the Talley Farm, also located in Chadds Ford. While the tree dominates the foreground in this watercolor, the sweeping view down the hill is equally impactful. Winter was Wyeth’s favorite season, and his many landscapes depicting that time of year are often both placid in their silence and haunting in their sense of isolation.
