Curatorial RemarksThis study is for the basket weaver at the bottom of the canvas, to the viewer's left of the central figure group.
After the artist's death, the drawing was adhered into a scrapbook titled "Drawings & Sketches of N. C. Wyeth, NA." Andrew Wyeth ordered the scrapbook from G. Alan Chidsey of Great Neck, NY, and presented it to Mrs. N. C. Wyeth at Christmas, 1946. By the mid to late 1970s, many of the drawings had been removed and sold or given away. The scrapbook itself was sold out of the family with the permission of Carolyn Wyeth, but it surfaced in 2009, with this and only two other drawings still in it.
