Curatorial RemarksRemnants of the lower left quarter of a Renaissance Panel label on the reverse in the upper right corner of the panel suggest that the artist cut down a previously used panel for this commission. The Brandywine River Museum holds a lantern slide (NCWS.95.1825.94) of the composition drawing, used in the transfer of the image from paper to panel.
