Curatorial RemarksThe painting was photographed in 1969, one of approximately 3 dozen paintings from the artist's studio that had been stored unstretched (Brandywine River Museum, catalogue raisonné files). The title authority rests with Andrew Wyeth (Inventory of Paintings removed from NCW studio, Oct. 11, 1990, Brandywine River Museum).
In 2013, the painting was examined by Kelly McCauley, a student in the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation. She discovered by infrared examination and x-radiography the presence of an underimage. The underimage does not seem to correspond to any known compositions.
