Curatorial RemarksReceived at Knoedler's as "Farm Scene (Farmer and Pigs)" (Brandywine River Museum, catalogue raisonne files, Knoedler inventory, Sept. 18, 1956), this painting was exhibited the following year as "McVey's Barn, " and in 1974 as "Pyle's Barn." The structure and its location still have not been identified with certainty. NCW 2110 is an oil sketch for the present work.
