Curatorial RemarksA letter from the art dealer Robert C. Vose, Jr., to Andrew Wyeth, dated May 8, 1953, verifies that one of the Treasure Island paintings was destroyed by fire which swept through the Fort Rensselaer Club in Canajoharie, New York, on Dec. 29, 1952. Additional correspondence in 1953 between Robert C. Vose, Jr., and Edward Moore describes the fire and the extent of the damage (curatorial files, Brandywine River Museum).
