Curatorial RemarksThe painting appeared on the art market in 2000 with this title, but there seems to be no archival authority for it. In Carolyn Wyeth's early 1970s inventory of paintings in her father's studio, there are at least three entries that could be this painting, "Brook with Willow Tree, Chadds Ford" (No. 22); "Summer landscape with Brook, Chadds Ford" (No. 28); and "Summer Brook in Chadds Ford" (No. 33); all are oil on canvas and measure 26 x 24 inches (Brandywine River Museum, library).
