Curatorial RemarksAlthough Scribner's owned this painting, records (Brandywine River Museum library, Scribner's archives, # 25652) indicate that it was sold to the first owner through the artist. Lawton owned at least one other Wyeth painting of native Americans (NCW 852) that he purchased from Scribner's.
