Curatorial RemarksThis is one of a group of drawings from the artist's studio that were consigned by the Wyeth family to Frank E. Fowler for sale in 1976. According to a handwritten inventory of drawings in that group (Brandywine River Museum), the present work was at that time mounted to a highly acidic backing board; notation was also made of an addition 1 3/4 inches wide that had been adhered to the right side of the drawing to increase the overall width. The BRM holds a lantern slide of the drawing, used in the transfer of the design from paper to panel (NCW 1288).
