Curatorial RemarksThis painting was received at Knoedler's in 1956 as "Landscape with Houses." Exhibited in 1957 as "Cornfield," that title also appeared on a Knoedler's inventory of 1964. In a letter to the owner of June 9, 1968, Andrew Wyeth identified the location as "just below (N. C. Wyeth's) house in Chadds Ford" and dated the work 1929. Stylistically, it seems to relate to other paintings done in the mid teens.
