Curatorial RemarksMosquito Island appears to be one of Wyeth's more abstract views of the coastline, but a photograph of the actual location taken years later proves that the painted scene corresponds quite closely to the natural abstraction of the site. The authority for the title rests with Andrew Wyeth.
