Curatorial RemarksThe Brandywine River Museum holds a lantern slide made from this drawing (NCWS.95.1825). Wyeth used the slides to transfer a design from paper to a canvas or panel support, but no painted image of "The Apple Tree" has been located and Andrew Wyeth does not recall a painting after this composition (AW to CBP, 3/13/2006, Brandywine River Museum curatorial files). Further documentation of the drawing (such as size) is based on a handwritten list at the BRM compiled in 1976 when the drawing was one of a lot consigned to Frank E. Fowler for sale.
