Curatorial RemarksThis is probably one of the sketches referred to in a letter dated Aug. 1, 1920, "My sketches for the Missouri Capitol decorations were passed upon and accepted..." (Wyeth, ed., p. 651). A letter of Sept. 7 details the process the artist used to transfer the design from the sketch to the final canvas (Wyeth, ed., p. 655).
