Curatorial RemarksA Scribner's inventory card indicates that this oil painting was executed in black and white (card no. 01590, Scribner's Archive, Brandywine River Museum library). The artist wrote: "I finished and sent my football picture yesterday well approved by H. P." (NCW to Henriette Zirngiebel Wyeth, "I finished and sent my football picture yesterday..., " dated in another hand June 12, 1904, Wyeth Family Archives).
