Curatorial RemarksAccording to Scribner's records, this painting was sent to Scribner's retail store on Fifth Avenue on Nov. 10, 1927, probably as part of the advertising display for the book (Brandywine River Museum, Scribner's archives). Most of Wyeth's other cover designs for the Scribner's series were done in the same vertical format of the interior illustrations, and then later cut down; this painting was probably no exception.
