Curatorial RemarksThis drawing is typical of the artist's student work before he enrolled in the Howard Pyle School of Art. It was probably done at the Massachusetts Normal Art School during the spring of 1900 for a class described as "Model, charcoal," or done at the Eric Pape School during fall term of 1900.
The drawing was one of 16 sold by Nicholas Wyeth in July 1972 to Aldis Brown of New York. Six of those drawings were of costumed models and may have been done in the same class (see NCW 1523, 1524, 1560, 1562, and 1565).
