Curatorial RemarksThis drawing, known by archival photograph only, probably represents an alternate concept for the commission. The archival photograph clearly shows the additions of pieces of paper to the top and bottom of the sheet to extend the design. A more finished drawing, NCW 1099, shows how those changes were incorporated into the final design (NCW 300). The archival photograph is stamped and dated (April 8, 1941) by the photographer.
