Curatorial RemarksGiven the specific date inscribed on this painting, it is likely that the following comment pertains to it: "This morning I hiked to the studio and in one hour knocked out in my estimation the best sun light picture I ever did" (NCW to Henreitte Zirngiebel Wyeth, "Sunday night and hot!" and dated in another hand July 31, 1904). The subject has been identified by Betsy James Wyeth as Carolyn Brenneman Bockius.
