Curatorial RemarksThe number written on the stretcher (B15013) is undoubtedly a Scribner's number, although no card for the publication exists in the Scribner's artists file at the Brandywine River Museum. According to other numbers in the file, this number would place receipt of the painting at Scribner's between late summer, 1918, and early spring 1919. The book was published on May 3, 1919 (courtesy John Delaney, Princeton University Library).
