Karl J. Kuerner, like his mentor Andrew Wyeth, celebrated the people and the landscape of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. In this wintery view, Kuerner captures not just the look of a snowy farm, but also the bitter chill of the wind that causes the evergreen branch in the foreground to sway and bounce. The nostalgic frosted glass ornaments featuring Christmas trees, Santa and his reindeer, and snowmen appear to dance in the wind. One can imagine the faint jingle of their motion in a scene otherwise muted by the falling snow.
