Curatorial RemarksThe artist's Rocky Hill studio was completed in 1911 according to blueprints and specifications drawn up by Wilmington architect William Draper Brickle (Brandywine River Museum). The privet hedge and vines around the studio door shown in the picture probably indicate that the view was painted later than the following summer. This painting and several archival photographs owned by the Wyeth family document the appearance of the studio with its original east wing, the so-called "glass house" where Wyeth would pose his models. The glass house was demolished in 1923, when the mural studio was constructed on the site.
