Curatorial RemarksThe drawing was originally adhered to a piece of cardboard (18 x 26 1/4 in.) on which the following inscriptions were written; below image, lower left: Panel 206; below image lower right: WINTER - CROWS; at top center: No. 2; on verso: stamp of drawing pad manufacturer. The eight numbered sections of the drawing correspond to lantern slides in the collection of the Brandywine River Museum (NCWS.95.1825.342-.349), used in the transfer of the design from paper to canvas.
