Curatorial RemarksThis composition drawing is so closely related to the Brown & Bigelow calendar image ( NCW 562), that it must represent an alternative, probably earlier, composition. It seems likely that advertising executives insisted on the more modern image of tractors rather than horse-drawn plows. The Brandywine River Museum holds a lantern slide (NCWS.95.1825.181) that would have been used in the transfer of the design from one medium to another.
