Curatorial RemarksA detailed drawing of the composition for Going to Church (NCW 2040, Brandywine River Museum 96.1.547) was traced to produce this outline. The outline drawing was then ruled and lantern slides (Brandywine River Museum NCWS95.1825.276-.283) were made from the drawing as part of the process of transferring the design from paper to canvas. According to a letter of September, 1940, John McCoy made some of these outline drawings and this one may be his work (NCW to Andrew Wyeth, "Sunday afternoon, "I've a few minutes left...", and dated in another hand Sept. 30, 1940, Wyeth Family Archives).
