Henriette Wyeth produced lyrical, vibrantly colored floral still lifes throughout her career. Here, her solid, fluid brushwork carefully distinguishes each blue flower, yellow bloom, and surrounding leaves. Rather than composing a traditional table-top still life with vase, Wyeth allows the flowers to float on the canvas, emerging almost magically against the monochrome background.
