Curatorial RemarksThis piece was removed from the N. C. Wyeth studio in September 1995. In January 2008 it was examined by Andrew Wyeth, who confirmed it was his father's later work, although Wyeth did not offer a date.
Subsequent research has shown it is a study for In a Strange Land (NCW 596). Related drawings are: a figure study (NCW 123), and a composition drawing (NCW 737) known only by lantern slide (NCWS.95.1825.75, Brandywine River Museum of Art).
