Curatorial RemarksNathan Margolis (1908-1964) was part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) era of printmaking (1935-43), embracing social realism and responding to contemporary cultural issues through his work. Margolis was the printmaking teacher and mentor of Peter Paone (b. 1936), and both artists are significant to the storied history of printmaking in Philadelphia in the twentieth century.
