Curatorial RemarksThis work depicts the house Wyeth built on Rocky Hill, south of the village of Chadds Ford; the family moved into the house in October 1911. An x-radiograph of the canvas showed there was no image under the surface painting (Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation project, March 2004). The number on the stretcher corresponds to number 44 in Carolyn Wyeth's early 1970s inventory of the paintings in her father's studio, "N. C. Wyeth's Home, Chadds Ford" (Brandywine River Museum library).
