Curatorial RemarksThis piece was removed from the N. C. Wyeth studio in September 1995. In February 2008, it was examined by Andrew Wyeth who attributed it to N. C. Wyeth.
In his article "N. C. Wyeth, Painter and Illustrator," Anton Kamp wrote: "(Wyeth) came under the instruction of Richard Andrew, and as he told me many years after--his entry into the field of illustration was brought about by the instructor's criticism of a drawing of a fox's head" (The Artgum, vol. IV, no. 4, April 1926). While there is no positive identification of the present drawing with the one to which Kamp refers, it must be considered a possibility.
