Curatorial RemarksThis landscape is typical in size and style to work Wyeth did between 1909 and 1912, using the immediate vacinity of Chadds Ford as subject matter. See especially NCW 2356 (L.32), NCW 2359 (L.33), and NCW 214 (L.53).
The painting is not signed, but was authenticated by Douglas Allen in 2021. Although there is no archival authority for a title, Allen has identified the white barn, which appears in other views of the village, as that belonging to Bert Guest, a local antiques dealer.
