Curatorial RemarksThis is the composition drawing for The Turkey Hunters (NCW 443), a mural for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and the presentation painting (NCW 2104) that Wyeth submitted for approval before embarking on the oversize canvas. Lantern slides (NCWS.95.1825.323-333) for this commission, found in the artist's studio (Brandywine River Museum of Art, Annenberg Research Center), show another related drawing composed of major outlines only. That drawing, as shown in the slides, was ruled for transfer; it is now lost.
