Curatorial RemarksIn a letter dated Feb. 9, 1944 to Andrew Wyeth, the artist indicated that the composition drawing was already complete: "I have, of course, not started the Spring House motif as there has been no time, but everything is ready to move when the moment comes." The Brandywine River Museum holds a lantern slide (NCWS.95.1825.244) of the drawing used to transfer the design from paper to panel (NCW 127).
