Curatorial RemarksDespite the note on the drawing, Sharps rifles shipped to Kansas before the start of the Civil War, were known as "Beecher's Bibles, " not Beecher's rifles. Jim Ellis, who studied the NCW firearm collection, identified the rifle as a Sharps.
