Drawing inspiration from her immediate surroundings, Carolyn Wyeth represents a stylized view from the second-floor terrace of her father N.C. Wyeth’s house in Chadds Ford. Carolyn spent her entire life living and working on the property. She taught from her studio, attached to her father’s, for more than 30 years. Although inspired by the same landscapes as other Brandywine region painters, including those of her own family, Carolyn’s work is expressly different from others, conveying the aspects of nature in simplified, often cropped forms with a limited palette.
