Curatorial RemarksArthur Burdett Frost was a major force in the development of comic papers and the strip cartoon that conveys a story by images. "Hunter, Kangaroo, and Snake" chronicles the antics of a man-eating snake in three drawings. Frost depicted his subjects in a variety of comical positions and with attitudes and gestures designed to amuse. He had a predilection for caricatures and specialized in rural types-lanky, rumpled characters, with striking heads of shaggy hair and large unruly beards. Animals were similarly parodied.
