Curatorial RemarksThis is one of the figure studies Wyeth did while a student at the Eric Pape School of Art in Boston. It relates to a number of other studies, for example NCW 2258 of an accordian player, probably done in the same class. The model may have also posed for NCW 2673, a small oil on canvas.
The drawing is shown in a photograph identified as the Eric Pape School of Art Exhibition, held at the end of classes in June , 1901. The photograph is reproduced in the Eric Pape School of Art Catalogue for 1901/1902 (Brandywine River Museum library).
