Curatorial RemarksThis image was most likely done on a larger canvas that also included a major vignette (NCW 2458) and a companion portrait of the other main character in the story (NCW 1266). The companion portrait of "The Outlaw" has been located, an oil on canvas square cut from the larger canvas and mounted on a hardboard support.
The size of this image was most likely similar to the size of the companion portrait, 9 1/4 inches in diameter.
