Curatorial RemarksIt is likely that this painting is the same one the artist exhibited in Wilmington in 1924 with the title "The Homestead." In the local newspaper, an unidentified reviewer described that painting as "a vigorous rendering of a hillside cottage...." (see "Notable Paintings in Fine Arts Show," (Wilmington) Every Evening, March 31, 1924, p. 5). This is an exuberant portrait of the Wyeth house with a glimpse along the right side of the studio perched higher on the hill.
