Curatorial RemarksExtant are an archival photograph of this painting annotated in the artist's hand: IX Gen. Frémont -- explorer / of the Rockies -- 1830; a composition drawing (NCW 1368); and a calendar page mock-up (NCW 1454) with N. C. Wyeth's sketches for the borders surrounding the images. The Brandywine River Museum holds a lantern slide (NCWS.95.1825.148) used in the transfer of the image from paper to panel.
