Curatorial RemarksThe painting suffered fire damage at the Fort Rensselaer Club on Dec. 29, 1952. Nicholas Wyeth recalled that during an old conversation treatment (sometime after the Wyeths acquired the painting in 1960), the faces of all the figures were repainted by conservator Timothy Jayne. (NW to CBP, Brandywine River Museum of Art, 3/2017). There is no extant documentation of this treatment.
