Curatorial RemarksThe location of this painting was identified by Andrew Wyeth, who also stated that he had signed the work before it left the Wyeth family (John R. Schoonover to Gene Harris, Oct. 2, 1995, Brandywine River Museum catalogue raisonne files). The painting may be no. 73, "Bill Loper House," in the early 1970s inventory Carolyn Wyeth did of paintings in her father's studio, however the height dimension on the inventory card is 20, not 25, inches. Stylistically the painting appears to be an early view in Chadds Ford; there is no archival authority for an exact date.
