Curatorial RemarksExtant are the composition drawing for this image (NCW 1859); a lantern slide (NCWS.95.1825.142, Brandywine River Museum) made from the drawing and used in the transfer of the image from paper to panel; and an archival photograph of the painting annotated in the artist's hand, "Eric the Red / off the islands of Newfoundland" (Brandywine River Museum library).
