Curatorial RemarksThe quality of the reproduction of the two illustrations for this story elicited this critique from the artist, "Have you seen my two pictures in Harper's this month? Bum (underlined) reproductions!" (NCW to Henriette Zirngiebel Wyeth, "Dear Mama, I didn't write to you last week..." and dated in another hand Sept. 25, 1905, Wyeth Family Archives).
