Curatorial RemarksIn the third and subsequent printings of "Discovery," this illustration replaced one removed from the first printing. The original illustration depicted Friar Tuck taking part in a robbery and proved a minor embarrassment to Ginn and Company (see NCW 604). The Brandywine River Museum holds a lantern slide (NCWS.95.1825.79) made from the composition drawing (NCW 1521) which was used in the transfer of the design from paper to panel.
