Curatorial RemarksAt one time this painting was accompanied by a letter from Carolyn Wyeth stating that this was her father's work and that the two figures in the stream were she and her sister Henriette. The painting is most likely No. 69, "Brandywine Creek with Henriette & Carolyn & some cows," in an inventory of paintings in Wyeth's studio done by Carolyn Wyeth in the early 1970s (Brandywine River Museum, library). The partial label on the reverse would seem to indicate that NCW 1614, a 1912 illustration for "A Son of Hagar," is under the present work.
